Home Learning Update - 6-19-20

Hello Second Grade Families -

WE'RE ALMOST THERE!!!

Here are a few quick items for you as we wind down the school year:

End of Year Zoom Opportunities

Here are our final 3 Zoom meetings (optional):

  • Friday, June 19, 10:00-10:45 am: Final author visit of the year with author-illustrator Mike Lowery. Tune in for a presentation and drawing lesson from Mike, then some Q & A. Students who are interested can stay on after Mike's visit to hear a fun read aloud in celebration of Juneteenth.
  • *NEW* Monday, June 22, 10:00-10:30 am: Poetry Writing Celebration! Students should bring a poem they are proud of from our poetry writing unit to share with the class.
  • Tuesday, June 23, 10:00-10:30 am: Summer Send-off! Students will have the chance to share something they're looking forward to (if you have moved, are going to a different school next year, etc. and want to share, this would be a great time to do it), share a favorite part of second grade, and we will share one last story together.

Online Learning Next Week

Tomorrow (Friday, 6/19) will be our last day of Seesaw assignments in support of the ENLs. For Monday and Tuesday's suggested work, students may:

  • Work on choice writing (~20 minutes)
  • Learn on Zearn (~20 minutes)
  • Word work on Lexia (15 minutes) and independent reading

Summer Reading

Next week, I will share a post with some tips for summer reading including a round-up of some of my favorite resources.

Let me know if you have any questions, and a BIG thank you for your patience and grace throughout our year together!

Cheering you on,

Mrs. Wright
